I am planning on doing the Mohican 100k. I have finished this race three times. The first time it was in 12 hours, next 11:30 and the final time 11:00. I am working towards a 9:30 for this year. I feel a with the right amount of riding and without wasting too much time at the aid stations a 9:30 is a very realistic goal.
Does just competing in a race make someone a racer? Can you want to compete against others and not race them. Two seasons back I moved from Beginner Cat3 to the Sport Cat2 Class. As a beginner I would finish in the Top 5 or 10 just a few minutes back form the winner. Now I bring up the rear. I know some if not the largest majority of this is caused by a lack of training time, but I enjoy being out there but have lost the desire to "race" but still "compete".
Is this an oxymoron?
